Drink Like George Clooney

Casamigos tequila, the private house blend created specifically for the actor, now gets Clooney’s public endorsement

The A-Lister and his partner-in-crime Rande Gerber, debuted their private-label sipping tequila for public consumption with the humorous bed-swapping video commercial nearly stealing the show!

Women want to date him, men want to be like him. Well, at least now we can all drink like George Clooney. Or is the better word “sip,” as the matinee idol, silver fox, has just released a premium tequila, meant to be sipped and savored, straight-up, rather than mixed or pounded back in shots. The tequila is the product of the joint venture between Clooney and his  nightlife impresario pal Rande Gerber ( aka Cindy Crawford’s husband) and business partner/real estate mogul Mike Meldman. The lads used to sip the private, custom blend on their sun-and-tequila-soaked trips to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where they shared adjoining casas, hence the name Casamigos, and they gifted bottles to close friends and family. Soon word of their private label tequila turned viral with folks clamoring for Clooney booze, and the public birth of the tequila became inevitable.

But the celebrity booze almost got overshadowed by the video promotion (link below) featuring Clooney, Gerber, Crawford and Clooney’s current gal-pal Stacy Keibler, awaking to strange bedfellows and partner swappings after nights of tequila-fueled partying.  Come to think of it, Crawford and Clooney do make a handsome couple, but it’s all just good fun among friends…tequila drinking friends.

Now about the tequila. It is a small-batch, ultra-premium tequila “made from the finest, hand-selected, 100% Blue Weber agaves,” which are grown in the Jalisco highlands of Mexico, according to the official website. The reposado version is aged at a minimum of seven years for deep, rich flavors and smooth sipping. The barrel-aged reposado has “hints of caramel,” while the blanco version is “crisp and clear with subtle hints of vanilla.” The minimalist, clear glass bottles are eye-catching, with labels bearing Clooney and Gerber’s signatures. Expect to see Casamigos on the shelves of high-end liquor stores in a few weeks and at Whiskey Blue and other Gerber-owned bars. The booze is distributed by Serrallés and priced at $42.99 for the Blanco and $49.99 for the Reposado.

“We love tequila,” Clooney and Gerber told CNN. “On the rocks, by the shot, at times straight from the bottle.”
