Thomas Pink and Emporio Armani Land at Hartsfield
By Urban Sleuth
In Atlanta’s bustling airport, retail therapy gets a major upgrade.
Lost in the drama surrounding the recent awarding of the food and beverage concession contracts (Ecco, Varasano’s, Twist, Yeah Burger, Rolling Bones BBQ, the Original El Taco, Grindhouse Killer Burgers, Tamarind Seed Thai Bistro, Ludacris’ Chicken N Beer, oh my!) at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, is the arrival of some boldface fashion purveyors to the world's busiest airport.
Now travelers to our fair city, whether just browsing or looking for a last-minute gift, can have the type of shopping choices usually reserved for Fifth Avenue or Beverly Hills patrons. The new Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal will sport some status affirming brands such as Thomas Pink and Emporio Armani--two brands that have not yet graced the Buckhead Malls--when it opens this spring. The London-based heritage brand Thomas Pink (part of luxury house LVMH) is known for its tailored men’s shirts, while Emporio Armani represents the hip, urban, younger brother/sister of Armani. Megan Fox and soccer star Christiano Renaldo have posed as the recent “faces” of this ready-to-wear brand that is largely designed by Armani himself.
Montblanc and Tag Heuer are also slated for the new terminal along with luxury cosmetic, fragrance and liquor vendors. The 12-gate international terminal, which will be concourse F on the airport's map, will add another level of luxe shopping to Hartsfield -Jackson's retail offerings that already include top shops such as Zegna, Bulgari and Ferragamo.
