Downton Abbey Afternoon Tea

Enjoy all the amenities of a proper Edwardian English tea, Downton Abbey style, but minus all that upstairs-downstairs drama, Thurs. Jan. 3 - Sun. Jan. 6 and Wed. Jan. 9-Sun. Jan. 13 at The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead. Sit down to fine loose teas steeped in a bone china teapot and poured through a silver strainer with impeccable tea protocol and polished service that even persnickety Dowager Countess of Grantham (played by Maggie Smith) can’t sniff at. Enjoy delicate tea sandwiches, savories, warm scones and sweets that would delight all three Crawley sisters in a setting just as grand as the Grantham manor as you celebrate the launch of season three of the British series. After tea, take your souvenir picture with life-size cut-outs of two of Downton Abbey’s most beloved characters at the hotel’s iconic fireplace.

The afternoon tea will be served at sittings at 2:30 or 3PM in The Lobby Lounge, Thurs. Jan 3-through Sun. Jan. 6 and Wed. Jan. 9 thorugh Sun. Jan. 13. Afternoon Tea is $44 per person. Or splurge on the Royal Afternoon Tea for $60 per person with the addition of a glass of Heidsieck Monopole, Brut, “Blue Top,” France, along with strawberries topped with whipped cream and Grand Marnier.

Prices are inclusive of valet parking and exclusive of taxes and gratuities. For reservations call 404.240.7035

The “What is a Weekend?” Downton Abbey Overnight Package

If Afternoon Tea is not enough to quench your taste for all things manor-born and Downton Abbey-approved, then check in to The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead for a weekend of aristocratic pampering worthy of the landed gentry. When the imperious Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith) famously queried “What is a Weekend?” she had no idea what the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead was cooking up. The “What is a Weekend?” Overnight Package includes overnight accommodations in a deluxe guestroom; Royal Afternoon Tea for Two (see above); butler-placed turndown amenity of eye masks, two glasses of sherry and English biscuits; and overnight valet parking; starting from $359 per night. The hotel package is valid Jan. 3, 4 and 5, 2013, subject to availability.
