Coming off the heels of last year’s double-win for Best Chef Southeast by Hugh Acheson of Empire State South and Linton Hopkins of Restaurant Eugene, we have big hopes for our James Beard 2013 Atlanta Nominees. The official list of semi-finalists for this prestigious culinary awards program was announced today, and several local toques, mixologists, and restaurants made the coveted list.

From the gracious elegance of Bacchanalia to the culinary finesse of Cakes & Ale, The Shed at Glenwood andMiller Union, our local talents have plenty to crow about in 2013. But we also love that some of our more under-the-radar local faves are now bathing in the glow of, say, a national James Beard nom, like cult-fave gastrobpup The Porter in funky Little Five with husband-and-wife proprietors Molly Gunn and Nick Rutherford. The Porter pair boasts 5-star Seeger’s and also Quinones at Bacchanalia on their resumés. (They also made the list in 2012.) Or: the daily, line-out-the-door, insanely good, global-South-meets-Mexican fare at Taqueria del Sol. Carry on hospitality peeps and we can’t wait to see what you pull out of your hats for the 2014 awards!

Below: the complete, just-announced list of Atlanta-based James Beard Award Semi-Finalists, with the Finalist List announced March 18 and final awards revealed May 6, 2013. Tune back into LuxeCrush on these days for the final results.
