Art to Go-Go!

Buy a ticket, and leave with art on this lucky Friday the 13th

The “Walk Away with Art” event at Jennifer Schwartz Gallery allows each guest to take home original photographic art at this clever pin-up party.

Young, hip, thirty-something Jennifer Schwartz is one out-of-the-(white)-box thinker and gallery owner. Sure, her eponymous, Westside photography showcase, Jennifer Schwartz Gallery, is surrounded by four square walls. But in every other way this creative conceptualist strives to bring art out into the world and visa versa. Her occasional ArtFeast events are one way in which she is energizing a new gallery crowd by hosting intimate dinners with noted local chefs in her Atlanta art space. Past chefs have included Jason Hill of Wisteria and Joe Truex of Watershed. Schwartz is clever to tap into the current foodie zeitgeist and parlay it into an event that also highlights the eye candy appeal of art: another kind of feast.

This spring she launches her Crusade for Collecting, which involves Schwartz driving a refurbished 1977 VW bus around the country to 10 cities in 2013 selling photography via pop-up shows and drumming up interest in emerging artists from across the country, art in general, and art collecting.

But perhaps her coolest initiative is her Walk Away With Art special events, which allow art enthusiast and art novices, alike, to walk away with original, signed art off of Schwartz’s highly curated gallery walls at the end of the night. This exclusive event, limited to 50 people, allows art lovers to mingle in the gallery over cocktails and light bites, meet the highlighted artists, hear brief presentations about their photographs, playfully weigh the many merits of the works on show, and then “fuse elements of chance with personal taste” as Schwartz describes it, by drawing numbers to determine the order in which you will select the work you will walk away with. The ticket price of $100 per person or $125 per couple entitles you to one original work of art included in the price tag. And needless to say, the art is valued much higher than the ticket price, so this deal is really a steal. And if that’s not enough enticement to check out Jennifer Schwartz Gallery, her current group show, through May 10, is entitled “Lust.”

The next Walk Away With Art event is this Friday, April 13, at Jennifer Schwartz Gallery and tickets are going fast. Get yours now at www.jenniferschwartzgallery.com/walk and 404.885.1080 or stay tuned for future events at her gallery.
