The Highlights
Members of the invite-only Dinner Party supper club are used to surprise locations for their impromptu feasts—from an airplane hangar hosting two major private jets, to center court at the basketball center at Georgia Tech—but the recent August dinner at Lowe Gallery takes the cake for posh settings. As a jazz trio played, guests enjoyed wine and craft cocktails from Gentlemen of Spirit (aka Fablte Thomas Jun and Eric Simpkins of Dinner Party and The Lawrence), while exploring the modernist gallery filled with Thorton Dial’s large-scale works and fashion photography from Italian Vogue lensman Greg Lotus. The dinner table was also set beneath a sumptuous Dial painting, as guests, including more than one major corporation CEO, feasted on chef Devereaux’s sophisticated menu (we are intrigued by the pork fat shorbread dessert with cherry mousse and cherry gastrique!) and equally lush wine parings, including a Chateauneuf-de-Pape from sommelier John Dirga. Open-flame cooking added a hint of drama and danger to the oh-so-cultured culinary experience.
