Sprinkles Cupcakes and Shake Shack To Slip into Town, Plus New Burger Fixes
By Nancy Staab
OK, we usually reserve our Crave Page for more elevated food fare. But now and then, we just want to sink our teeth into a perfectly grilled burger or sinful ice cream shake. And lucky for us, several new vendors are sating our craving for the sinful stuff.
Holeman & Finch Burger Stand at Atlanta Braves Games
First up, is the new Holeman & Finch burger stand at Turner Stadium, just in time for Atlanta Braves baseball season. The menu may be simple: burger, hand-cut fries and Classic Coca-Cola, but who needs frills when it’s the fiercest cult-burger in town? Rather than clamor for just one of those 24 double-stacks, served after 10PM at Holeman and Finch…belly up to the stadium stand for the famous burger any game day. There will be three stands: one behind home plate and one on each side of the Fan Plaza in the left and right field. Or: score one of just 24 special H&F Burger Outfield Pavilion seats ($32 each), which come with a guaranteed burger as part of the package and a “fast pass” to the front of the line! Southern Living magazine, Eater.com and various other press sources have made much of these bally-hooed burgers at the Braves Game, so don’t miss the boat…or should we say, the bun. Expect chef/owner Linton Hopkins to cook up more Americana-inspired vendor surprises in the near future.
In the mood for something a little more robust…head to star chef Kevin Rathbun’s own stand at Turner Field, in section 205 of Terrace Level, for a man-sized steak sandwich. $15 gets you a sliced sirloin sandwich with horseradish cream.
$3 Monday Slider Nights at Bantam + Biddy
Remember the famous slider nights at The Shed at Glenwood? Well they are now a thing of the past with The Shed hawking fried chicken specials instead. But the original architect of those Shed slider nights, Chef Lance Gummere, is now at Bantam +Biddy and he’s picking up the slack by re-instituting slider night every Monday at the Midtown chicken-and-three establishment co-owned by Shaun Doty. Every Monday from 5-9PM Bantam + Biddy will offer a selection of crave-worthy $3 sliders. Because they are affordable and bite-sized, feel free to indulge in several of the always-rotating flavors. Sample sliders include: chicken fried steak with country gravy; fried green tomatoes with goat cheese; fried catfish with lemon aioli; pork schnitzel with pear jam; or house smoked pork BBQ. Knock it back with drink specials such as a 7-oz.-bottle of Miller High Life for a dollar.

Zinburger lands at Lenox Square Mall
As our food contributor James Oxendine reported last week, the NJ-based upscale burger boutique and wine bar, Zinburger, will come to Lenox Square mall this spring/summer. It will be interesting how it compares to custom, homegrown burger boutiques like Flip and Yeah Burger with their insanely loyal clientele, but we are guessing the mall location will deliver a large built-in audience. The atmosphere is clean and modern with whimsical cow murals and the sample menu offers full bar drinks with uptown burgers, sandwiches, salads, sides and shakes. The trademark Zinburger consists of Angus beef, Manchego cheese, Zinfandel-braised onions and mayo for $10 or request Kobe beef for an extra $5. Pair it with double truffle fries with truffle oil and truffle aioli and a crème brulee milkshake and you pretty much meet your maximum calorie intake in one session…but we are sure you will power walk it all off with your marathon mall-shopping spree!

Shake Shack to Shake It Up in Two Atlanta Locations?
Speaking of shakes, rumor has it that famed NYC Central Park vendor Shake Shack, by Danny Meyer, may land two locales in A-Town: one at the Ponce City Market and another in Buckhead. On the menu: 100% Angus beef burgers, hot dogs, crinkly fries, shakes in ever-changing flavors like salted caramel, red velvet, Arabic coffee crunch or Boston cream pie; or the famous frozen custard “concretes.” They even hawk a few treats for your pooch like “Bag O’Bones” dog biscuits.

Sprinkles Cupcakes Brings Its Sugar to Lenox Square Mall
Just when we thought the cupcake craze had peaked, we find out that Beverly Hills-based Sprinkles Cupcakes will open a bakery within Lenox Square Mall. And Sprinkles actually bills itself as the first boutique cupcake bakery that spawned the entire haute cupcake craze. According to the website: “Sprinkles Cupcakes are handcrafted from the finest ingredients, including sweet cream butter, bittersweet Belgian chocolate, pure Madagascar Bourbon vanilla, fresh bananas and carrots, real strawberries and natural citrus zests.” And we adore the pink-lined boxes that they pack the cute cupcakes in. There’s a dizzying array of flavors from standard to more exotic like Chai latte, pumpkin, ginger lemon, or brown sugar praline.
Stay tuned to find out if Lenox Mall will also get one of Sprinkles’ famed cupcake vending machines to, you know, feed your cupcake fix anytime day or night!

Sublime Makes Saveur’s “50 Best Donuts” List
Congrats to Kamal Grant, the owner/chef/brainchild behind insanely good Sublime Doughnuts on 10th Street. His doughnut bakery was just named to the national “50 Best Donuts” list compiled by noted foodie writers Jane and Michael Stern for Saveur magazine. The magazine specifically called out Sublime’s famed strawberry ‘n’ cream creation.
