The Michael C. Carlos Museum celebrated its permanent holdings of ancient and classical artifacts at this year’s grand gala

The Venue

The event took place in a tented venue on the historic quadrangle at Emory University, home of the museum. Event impresario and co-chair Robert Long created a monumental rendition of the Michael Graves museum façade in ice as the dramatic entrance to the lavish tent decked out in red and black.

The Scene-Makers

Among the distinguished guests:  Jan and Gus Bennett, Emily and Rodney Cook, Aimee and Spaulding Nix, Dot Stoller, Jean Astrop, Guy and Ginny Millner, Radcliffe Bailey, Todd Murphy, Charles and Joanne Ackerman

The Highlights

During cocktail hour, guests explored the galleries and were introduced to the unique objects by the curators. (The museum holds about 16,000 objects of art and culture from five continents.) After cocktails, guests walked the red carpet to the  China red-bedecked tents for gourmet dinner by Soirée and after-dinner dancing.
