Atlanta’s lovely leading ladies came out in droves to The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead to support the Atlanta Ballet and to enjoy an afternoon of luxe runway fashions courtesy of Neiman Marcus.
Co-Chairs Corrie Johnson and Christian Eiler Wojcik, Atlanta Ballet Artistic Director John McFall, VP and GM of Neiman Marcus Mark Fillion, Corps de Ballet President Angela Smith, Atlanta Ballet trustee Kelly Cannon
The Corps de Ballet Luncheon marked the debut of The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead’s brand new ballroom with a sophisticated platinum palette and dozens of custom Czech crystal chandeliers--each with 24,000 hand-applied crystals. Beautiful and bountiful floral arrangements of hydrangeas and roses were created by Robert Long Flora Design.
The Party Highlights
During the champagne reception, ballet patrons browsed the couture pieces in the pop-up Neiman Marcus atelier set up for the occasion, as well as pieces by guest designer Barbara Tfank. Lovely ladies (and a few gents) enjoyed a light luncheon of Vichyssoise, roasted organic chicken and lemon tarts with fresh fruit. Neiman Marcus lent their runway show a rocker’s edge this year with a soundtrack that included Lenny Kravitz, Aerosmith, Jimmi Hendrix, U2 and more. Likewise, the fashions, while luxe, also had a rocker’s edge with loads of sequins, black leather and fur. The show concluded with a stunning collection of evening gowns in emerald green. Then several Atlanta Ballet dancers took the stage to perform an originally choreographed piece with shades of their upcoming show Dracula, to the music “Your heart is as black as night” by Norah Jones. Each ballet patron left with a fancy gift bag of treats, including custom silk scarves made especially for the Atlanta Ballet that depicted dancers in a shade of ballet pink.
Among the capacity crowd of ballet patrons: Ginny Brewer, Cynthia Hammond, Merry Carlos, Mary Frances Garrett, Harrison Rohr, Laura Seydel, Patti Wallace, Kristy Robison, Joanne Chesler Gross, Michelle Crosland, Jimmy Adams, Diane Gordon, Melissa Allen, Mara Morrison, Patrice Greer, Calvin Fong, Angelle Hamilton, Crystal Cox, Michelle Sullivan, Alison Jowers, Patricia McLean, Mara Maddox, Lynn Cochran Schroder, Lynda Courts, Suzanne Kasler, Beth Webb, Lavona Currie, Amy Musarra, Marlene Alexander, Nina Cheney, Cyndae Arrendale, Sarah Powell, Dot Stoller.
