Pirouettes and pink champagne

“Celebrating an Explosion of Dance” was the theme of this year’s ball, which took it’s cue from the ballet’s ambitious program. The soirée, co-chaired by Angelle Hamilton and Carol Gendell, honored ballet patron Patti Wallace.

Ballet enthusiasts turned out in droves, including Meg Arnold, Eric and Barbara Joiner, Alison Womack Jowers, Lynda Courts, Timothy Tew, Mary Frances Garrett, Anthon Muller, Lavona Currie, Steve and Michelle Sullivan, Christan and Kevin Wojcik, Tom and Amy Nelson, Dottie and Jerry Smith, Merry and Chris Carlos, Nathalie Allen
Guests enjoyed cocktails and a special rhythmic dance performance by children from the Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education Outreach Program and select corps ballet members. Luxe live auction items included a master work of art by Todd Murphy, a private dinner cooked by top chef Kevin Rathbun and a trip to see the San Francisco Ballet. The evening ended with dancing to the Continental Dance Orchestra. The gorgeous ballroom was bedecked by event maestro Tony Brewer and guests enjoyed a gourmet meal that concluded with a decadent Venezuelan Chocolate Bombe.
Proceeds from the evening benefitted the Atlanta Ballet and the outreach program of the new Michael C. Carlos Dance Centre.

Each guest departed with a mini bottle of pink champagne that served as part of the tabletop decorations.
The 2011-2012 season of the Atlanta Ballet will include the debut of an original work by dance legend and choreographer Twyla Tharp.
