The Highlights

A capacity-crowd of generous guests gathered at the St. Regis for a stellar fashion show featuring Michael Kors Fall 2013 Collection of bold peplum dresses, camoflauge furs, and slinky black gowns for night. The futuristic collection could have been labeled “The Matrix Meets a Crayola Box” for its edgy designs and day-glo color palette.  As models rocked the runway, patrons feasted on grilled chicken breast with faro and apple salad and chardonnay vinaigrette and chocolate dacquoise with passion cream for dessert. Each of this year’s “Women of Style and Substance” honorees, selected for their dedication to local philanthropy, sashayed down the runway in chic Michael Kors looks. At the end of their runway walk, each received a custom fashion drawing by designer Raymond Goins as a keepsake. Guest speaker Karin Smithson moved the entire audience with her profound story of her own family and young son Hoyte’s expert, compassionate and cutting-edge care at the hands of CHOA.  A live auction, led by honoree Ada Lee Correll’s daughter Elizabeth Richards, gave away fun auction items such as a private party for 30 on the Astor ice rink at the St. Regis Atlanta and a New York fashion week getaway with tickets to the Michael Kors show.

The Cause

Proceeds from the luncheon benefitted Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, a premiere, nationally recognized children’s hospital. CHOA serves over 2.7 million children in Georgia, many of them un-insured. For more info: www.choa.org
