The black-tie gala kicked off with a cocktail party and extensive silent auction, followed by a gourmet dinner in the formal ballroom decorated by Barbara Roos and Chris Macksey of Bold American. A lively live auction had all paddles in the air for luxe items such as a week stay in Cabo San Lucas and private yacht trip. The 2012 “Living and Giving Award” was presented to Dr. Bruce Bode for his years of exceptional service and dedication to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund) and its mission to find a cure. The evening culminated with children’s performances and “Fund a Cure,” with 100% of the proceeds going directly to diabetes research. Post dinner, guests headed out to the dance floor.
Approximately 700 guests enjoyed this year’s gala, which, given the cause was distinguished by several adorable families in attendance—the young children in their best party suits and dresses. Among the guests and patrons: Rutherford and Laura Turner Seydel, Barbara and Byron Williams, Penn and Net Payne, Paula and Jim McDonald, Wendy Conrad Aronson, Dan and Sandra Baldwin, Doug and Palmer Stratton, Dan and Ginny Rather.
Over $1.6 million was raised for JDRF (www.jdrf.org)
