Atlanta Food and Wine Fest’s VIP Kick-Off Party

Super star national and local chefs and a sold-out crowd of serious foodies gathered high atop Loews Hotel in Midtown, for Sugar! The sweetly names soirée was designed to kick off the city’s inaugural food and wine fest with an accent on Southern foodways and, of course, a whole lotta sugar (and bourbon)!


The Party:

A private, southern-inspired soiree for top Atlanta Food and Wine Festival patrons and celeb chef participants on the rooftop of the Loews Hotel, featuring a banquet of southern desserts and cocktails.

The Scene-Makers:

Countless top chefs and local foodies mingled at this rooftop spring cocktail including, JCT. Kitchen’s Ford Fry,  Aria’s Gerry Klaskala, Sean Brock (McCrady’s and Husk in South Carolina), Here to Serve’s Tom Catherall, Cacao’s Kristen Hard, Tucker Berta, James Oxendine, Bill Kaelin, Carolyn Carr and Michael Gibson, Danielle Rollins (designer of the fest’s chicly-appointed connoisseur lounge with interior designer Mallory Mathison), Lisa Klumok, Nina Cheney, Tara Murphy, Julia LeRoy, and Jonathan St. Hilaire of Bakeshop.

The Cause:

All proceeds from the Atlanta Food & Wine Fest went to non-profit organizations that support southern food traditions, including Atlanta History Center, Les Dames d’Escoffier, Oxford-American magazine and Wholesome Wave Foundation. The fest, which included four days of tastings, seminars, demonstrations, food tents, farm tours and special guest chef dinners was sponsored by Food & Wine and Travel + Leisure magazines.  The fest returns next year on May 11-13, 2012.
