Swan Ball Patron Party
A History-Making Cocktail Soiree
- Photos by Jim Fitts
Spring started with a roar…as in the Roaring ‘20s—the theme of this year’s Swan Ball. Home décor maven Helen Ballard Weeks and her husband Ray Weeks played host to generous Atlanta History Center patrons for a spring cocktail party at their enchanting French Provencal-style house.
Patron Party hosts Helen and Ray Weeks; Swan Ball 2012 co-chairs Rebecca Bily, Georgia Schley Ritchie and Dot Stoller; and the Atlanta History Center’s new president Sheffield Hale and his wife Elizabeth Hale
The cocktail party took place in the charming French Provencal-style home and gardens of Helen and Ray Weeks
Guests sipped cocktails, participated in a small charity auction, and enjoyed an elaborate supper buffet courtesy of Dennis Dean Catering. The three Swan Ball co-chairs dressed as charming Jazz Age babies in flapper fashions and long strands of pearls. A special toast was made to the late William A. Parker, Sr. with three generations of his family in attendance.
Among the crowd of Atlanta History Center patrons and revelers: Caroline and Boyd Leake, Bill and Lynn Shearer, Joe and Melody Thomas, Herman and Sylvie Russell, Jim and Sally Morgens, Pamela Isdell, Bill and Carey Peard, Carolyn and Rhett Tanner, Kay and Ron Quigley, Marcia and John Donnell, Jack Sawyer and Bill Torres, Victoria and Howard Palefsky
Platinum sponsors include Chubb Insurance, The Coca-Cola Company, and Wilmington Trust
Proceeds from Swan Ball benefit Atlanta History Center. The ball will be held April 28 with cocktails at the Swan House and dinner and dancing at the History Center’s Grand Overlook Ballroom.
