The Scene Makers
Among this year's generous Fashion Cares patrons: Don Purcell, Barron Segar, Lisa Stein, Rutherford and Laura Turner Seydel, Vicky and Howard Palefsky, Jovita Moore, Cyndae Arrendale, Randi Layne and Ken Goldwasser, Merry Carlos, Tony Conway, Marsha Middleton, Jenn Hobby, Reggie Walker, Fred Schneider, Holly Firfer, and Coy Wire.
The gala evening kicked off with a cocktail reception (with a surprise flash mob performance to Madonna's "Vogue"!) and couture bites courtesy of Dennis Dean Catering, and event design by April Trigg of Eventologie. A luxe auction featured Tom Ford sunglasses, Prada bags, jewels by Monique Pean and a fashionable getaway sponsored by Vogue magazine to NYC for fashion week. Prior to the runway show, Jeffrey Kalinksy paid a heartfelt tribute to Lila Hertz and presented her with an engraved Tiffany silver heart box in thanks for her ten years of dedicated service chairing Fashion Cares, declaring her this year’s “Honorary Chair.” The highlight of the evening: the on-trend runway presentation courtesy of Jeffrey boutique and Catwalk Production, featuring the sleek creations of designer Joseph Altuzarra, as well as covetable pieces by Lanvin, Givenchy, Bottega Veneta, Mary Katrantzou, Dries Van Noten and Stella McCartney. Following the runway show, revelers headed to the haute carnival-themed after-party at Opera with a menu of country-fair treats like corn dogs and homemade cherry pies, carnival games, live petting zoo, cocktails and DJ Vicki Powell spinning tunes late into the night.
Proceeds from the event benefitted the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Greater Atlanta Affiliate and the Atlanta AIDS Fund. Fashion Cares was founded by Jeffrey Kalinsky of Jeffrey boutique Atlanta and New York City, and is one of the largest AIDS and breast cancer benefits in the country, having raised approximately $10 million for the causes. Past Jeffrey Cares honorees have include: Jason Wu, Oscar de La Renta, Isaac Mizrahi and Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler.
Nordstrom’s, Jeffrey, Dennis Dean: A Catering Company, Mercedes Benz USA, Elton John AIDS Foundation, Opera Atlanta nightclub, and Cousins Properties were among the evening’s major patrons.
