Owner Anna Walker Skillman played host to artist Todd Selby, labeled by The New York Times as “the Horst of the hip set” and photo legend Eliott Erwitt at her Buckhead gallery, while arts patron Charlotte Dixon hosted an after-party for the lensmen at her art-filled house.
A packed-house crowd included Michael Gibson, John Oetgen, Amy Flurry, Lauren Wells, Todd and Liane Murphy, Cynthia Hammond, Doug Stratton, Julia-Carr Bayler, Sarah Dorio, Carolyn Carr.
Many hipsters showed up to admire blog sensation Todd Selby’s (aka theselby.com) telling photographs of hipsters in their habitats, including the voluminous bookshelves of Karl Lagerfeld and super model Helena Christensen posing barefoot on top of her industrial kitchen counter. Selby also signed copies of his pop-culture book sensation, The Selby Is In Your Place, at his premiere American gallery show. Meanwhile, old-school photo fans took in the black-and-white wonders of Elliott Erwitt, whose oeuvre includes everything from a portrait of Marilyn Monroe to chic Parisian street scenes. Erwitt cut his teeth as a photographer at Magnum alongside such greats as Henri Cartier-Bresson.
