W stands not only for W Hotel Midtown, the site of the gala, but also W for a Wonder-evoking evening of progressive artists, music and food.
Honorary Chairs Nancy Hooff and Todd Tautfest, gloATL’s Lori Stallings andWonderRoot’s Chris Appleton played host to a who’s who of the city’s top artists, gallery owners, patrons and collectors.
Progressive dancers from gloATL, musicians, artist Fahamu Pecou, opera singers from Atlanta Opera, a live painting by Todd Murphy, video installations and contemporary performance artists commandeered the hotel for an evening of visual spectacle, creativity, interactive art and awe. The evening also included a curated dinner (including dishes by Linton Hopkins, Kevin Gillespie, and Joe Truex), an art auction, and a hip after party with DJ Vicki Powell. Art was even incorporated at the dinner party, quite literally, with performance artists’ heads extending from the center of the dining table!
Among the crowd of art influentials: Alex West, Andrea Barnwell Brownlee, Matthew Arnett, Stuart Horodner, Annette Cone-Skelton, Camille Love, Don Purcell, Jennifer Schwartz, Liz Lapidus, Max Leventhanl, Nina Cheney, Fred Yalouris, Susan Booth, and Susan Bridges.
The evening benefitted the artistic and educational programs of WonderRoot, an Atlanta arts and community advocate, and contemporary dance company gloATL.
