Do You Die?

Celeb-stylist Rachel Zoe’s fall fashion line comes to Tootsies, Neiman Marcus, Saks and more

Rachel Zoe’s Fall Collection.

By Nancy Staab

She is stylist to A-list stars like Anne Hathaway, Eva Mendez, Jen Garner and Cameron Diaz; has a hit reality show on Bravo; and a book called Style from A to Zoe, so it was only a matter of time before the workaholic, tousled-maned, pin-thin, Starbucks-addled fashionista Rachel Zoe launched her own clothing line.

With a Resort and Fall collection under her designer belt, Rachel Zoe’s already earned plenty of raves from the often-snippy fashion press. And countless blue chip vendors have picked up her line for fall, including Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks, Nordstom’s, Bloomingdales and, in addition to luxe local boutique Tootsies.

Get your first peek at Zoe’s sophisticated fall frocks with a trunk show Aug. 19-20th at Tootsies boutique in Buckhead, where you can custom order pieces and preview the fall Rachel Zoe line that Tootsies will be stocking.

Zoe describes her line as “uptown chic and downtown cool infused with Parisian elegance and London street style.” This may sound like a tall order but her classic-leaning collection has a rather wide stylistic range and it helps that Zoe reportedly envisioned four distinct clients-- from the tomboy Charlie girl to the sequin-sheathed downtown party girl--when formulating her fashions. If you are expecting Zoe’s signature boho glam seventies style with lots of ethnic jewelry and caftans think again. Instead, Zoe has channeled her more classic, tailored side, but still with plenty of glamour and samples of louche 70’s sexiness in the form of Lauren Huttonesque pant suits with silk bow-tie blouses and slinky Studio 54-era, Bianca Jagger sequined minis.

There’s also a Tom Ford-esque red velvet pant suit, an elegant one shoulder white silk tiered gown, a flirty cayenne red Flamenco-inspired dress with ruffles, signature fur vests paired with dolman blouses and jeans and wasp-waisted metallic military jackets. Speaking of those Zoe jeans, they are sleek  and ’70s-style in inspiration, as Zoe took her cue from the original designer jeans labels: Sassoon, Gloria Vanderbilt and Jordache!

With a thriving career, marriage and new baby boy, Skylar, in her life, plus a closet full of baby couture like a mini Gucci leather bomber, you would think Zoe might be inclined put up her 5-inch heels and rest a bit. But that just isn’t in Zoe’s nature—a lass, who seems to thrive in chaotically creative, “bananas” environments.  Up next for the mulit-tasking designer/stylist:  a planned baby fashion line as well as a jewelry line for fall 2012. To use the Zoe parlance for ultimate fashion approval, “We die.”

Season Four of The Rachel Zoe Project debuts Sept. 6 on Bravo.
