Meet Mr. Porter
A new fashion portal geared towards guys
By Nancy Staab
Net-a-Porter recently introduced their new men’s fashion site, helmed by a former editor of Esquire. The result: a boon for bespoke blokes everywhere.
Women have long enjoyed the Net-a-Porter portal for the most luxurious fashion labels, including exclusive designer mini capsules. Now, the gents have their own, no-nonsense, online source with Net-a-Porter’s new companion site Mr. Porter (http://www.mrporter.com). Bespoke blokes can upgrade their wardrobes with 80-plus well-vetted vendors, including Gucci, Paul Smith, Lanvin, John Lobb, YSL, Burberry and much more. Whether his look is chic or street, everything from a Rick Owens leather biker jacket to Persol’s Steve McQueen folding sunglasses are purveyed at this stylish portal helmed by the recent editor of the British Esquire magazine Jeremy Langmead.
Consult Mr. Porter's international style icon directory to cop killer looks such as Paul Newman’s suave version of American prep, Mick Jagger’s swagger or Fiat scion Lapo Elkan’s continental peacocking. Hint: You will need blue-suede tassel loafers, tortoiseshell aviators and a Burberry blazer to even attempt this latter look!
Planning an escape? Consult the international address book, courtesy of the site’s sartorially-gifted Style Council (Pharrell Williams, Jefferson Hack, Hugh Jackman, David Collins, Purple editor-in-chief Olivier Zahm and more) for fashionable hotels and watering holes from Havana to Hong Kong.
