Stone Cold Fox

Our fave design find from Milan’s 2012 Salone del Mobile

By Nancy Staab

A traditional armchair goes moden with a deceptive, digital print. This marble chair only looks hard, it’s actually made of silk!

We’re positively enamored with this foxy marble chair by designer Maurizio Galante, which emerged from this spring’s 2012 Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan. It’s produced by Italian design house Cerruti Baleri. But look again: that cold stone seating is just an optical illusion, as the chair is actually upholstered in a digital print, 100% silk fabric that exquisitely captures the veining patterns of real Carrara marble. The “Louis XV Goes to Sparta” chair is currently in production and comes in two other marble patterns named “Portassanta” and “Grande Antico.”  You can even pair it with a matching round footstool, screen or love seat. Who say’s your manse can’t have a marble throne? Nice quarry indeed.
